I think LA needs Nash more than any of the teams mentioned, it would make the most sense to me.

Ek, if the Leafs are out of the Nash sweeps, who do you think Burke is most likely to target before the deadline?

I agree...in many ways I thnk Columbus may have really been banking that either Toronto or LA would over spend, and if they don't they will wait for the draft.

that is the big question.. I think Carter is a possibility, Penner as well, JVR or Brayden Schenn..Ruutu is NOT on Toronto's radar I am told. I also believe it is highly possible that Nash is not moved at all this deadline but ends up a Leaf on draft day.

New here... From New Zealand. Ek, do you think NYR will actually do anything? And is Dubinsky really on offer?

Apart from Luke Schenn, what could Toronto offer Philly for Brayden. From my understanding re-uniting the Schenn brothers in TO is something Burke has been hoping to do for some time.
As far as Carter is concerned, how high is Howson's asking price? Would Kadri and Franson get it done?

Good question, if I were a Rangers fan, I would be worried that by making a significant deal at this point could disrupt the chemistry the Rangers have this season. I'm not sure I would make a move until the off-season if I were Sather.

In all seriousness, Kadri is a top prospect still. I would think that Kadri and Franson would have much more valuable than a UFA Grabovski and an over paid Komisarek. As far as the pick is concerned I don't think burke would be willing to give up this year's 1st, so a 2nd??

Thanks - I am enjoying the ride thus far but I think NYR might lack some extra playoff punch and Nash, in my opinion, would be a good fit... At what cost? Who knows?

Burke is much more likely to go after:
- B. Schenn
- Dubinsky
- Halak
- Stewart
- Raymond
- Harding
- Couturier (sending L. Schenn the other way).

What about Couturier for L. Schenn and then Phi sending the Schenn brothers + to Columbus in a trade for Nash..

And Burke has not much to give up in trades, since he will probably not want to trade:
- Grabovski
- Kulemin
- Colborne
- Kadri
- Blacker
- Franson
- Gardiner
- Gunarsson
- Aulie
- Reimer

So left with ´trade assets´ of:
- Gustavsson
- MacArthur
- Lombardi
- Komisarek
- Frattin (?)
- Schenn (?)
- Armstrong (?)

But these will not be able to get a decent return..

In my opinion, the only way to improve this team instantly, is including Phaneuf in a trade for an improvement on forward, and then hoping to reach the playoffs and at least passing 1st round. In summer, trying to sing Suter as your #1 D.

True, the Bruins are, in my mind, the cream of the crop in the East. I just wonder if giving up a Del Zotto and/or Dubinski (both character guys with skill) at this point is a good idea. I do see the benefit of Nash however.

I really can't see the canucks going after nash. Unless columbus is willing to take money on. Just doesn't fit under the salary cap.

Hmm, never thought about trading Phaneuf. Although I'm not sure I agree with whom you think Burke will be willing to trade. Outside of Gardiner, if Burke is willing to trade Schenn, he must be willing to trade anyone else on your first list.

What/who do you think the Leafs could get by dangling Phaneuf? Would adding him allow Burke to get the #1 centre with size (ie. Stall, Getzlaf) the Leafs need so desperately in your opinion?

Could you imagine how unstoppable a Nash-Sedin-Sedin line would be though? I am in no way a Canucks fan, but for pure hockey enjoyment I would love to see that line come together.

Suter is not a guaranteed UFA but if he is one then we should definitely go for him. He would stabilize the D far better than Phaneuf has but those two can make a good pairing.

I can see Columbus taking some salary back to make the deal work (Booth or Ballard) if the Canucks depending on what the Canucks give up but the asking price is way too high right now and like the rangers the Canucks shouldn't mess with their team.

ya, and I am sure Schneider/Hodgson would need to be included and I'm not sure Gillis will give those guys up at this point.
